Out of the Noise:

Conversations about Community

Out of the Noise is a video interview series based in Southern New Hampshire exploring how social media has changed communication, relationships, and community life.

Each conversation asks two simple but powerful questions:

  • What do you miss about the time before social media?

  • What feels better now?

Through these interviews, the project captures personal reflections on connection, isolation, and the evolving role of technology in everyday life.

By bringing together voices from across the local community, Out of the Noise builds a collective portrait of how people relate to one another in a digital world. This is an ongoing storytelling project focused on real experiences, shared memory, and cultural change.

It feels like something is shifting in how we understand our relationship with social media.

Through my writing—and in conversations with others—I’ve noticed a growing awareness of how technology is shaping communication, attention, and connection. This moment feels important, and worth paying attention to.

To explore this shift, I started a video interview project called Out of the Noise: Conversations About Community.

I’m interviewing people across Southern New Hampshire and asking two simple questions:

  • What do you miss about life before social media?

  • What feels better now?

This is an ongoing, community-driven project, and I’m looking for collaboration, input, and participation. As interviews are recorded, they’ll be shared here.

Take a look, and let me know what you think.
